MEDICAL MISSION

The Santa High School Batch 1977 Alumni Association (SHS’77AA) Inc. launched its first medical mission last 22 April 2012 at Barangay Magsaysay, Santa, Ilocos Sur. Held at the barangay hall of Magsaysay District thru the auspices of Barangay Chairman Manding G. Tolentino who is also the alumni association’s auditor, the socio-civic project aims to provide free medical consultation to the residents of Barangay Magsaysay. Executive officers of the SHS’77AAI led by Mon C. Balallo and Zeny L. Buenavista were on-hand to oversee the proceedings.

The association sought the participation of all its available members to actively take part in the campaign. The association also solicited the services of medical experts, nurses and other volunteers in this day-long activity. Dr. Bien Burgonio of the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City and Santa-based Doctors Dr. Marilou Cardenas-Sabalburo, Dr. James Bueno and Dr. Sheryll Dizon volunteered their services.

The residents started to line up and register as early as 7:00 in the morning. Volunteer nurses got busy rendering free blood pressure/blood sugar check-up while the doctors were preoccupied attending to the patients’ medical inquiries and needs. Mid-day snacks and an ample supply of drinking water were also provided. Members of the SHS’77AAI facilitated for the orderly turn of proceedings.

The last patient was attended by mid-afternoon. The total tally recorded was one hundred and fifty (150) patients including fifteen (15) cases of circumcision. The Santa High School Batch 1977 Alumni Association (SHS’77AA) Inc. provided free medical consultation, circumcision and dispensation of donated medicines. 

 

After the last patient was attended to, members of the alumni association also took their turn in lining-up to avail of the same free medical services.

The activities after the medical mission included a raffle draw as part of the alumni association’s fund-raising campaign. Members of the organization also enjoyed the parlor games in a bid for brotherly competition. The night ended with dinner at the Balallo residence.

It was another successful activity.
